Pulse is happy to offer Zumbini, a delightful class series in which the science of child development meets the magic of movement. Designed for children 1 to 5 years old and their caregivers, Zumbini combines music, dance and educational tools for 45-minutes of can’t-stop, won’t-stop bonding and fun. With certified Zumba and Zumbini instructor Lindsey Berkowitz.

DANCE DISCOVERY PROGRAM   Registration: Dance Discovery

Beginners and Advanced Beginner Level I
Ages 10-13

July 2-13, 2018 (no class July 4)
9:00 AM-3:00 PM


This is a fun and adventurous expedition into the exciting and rewarding world of dance. Participants study Ballet and Modern dance technique, choreography, and multicultural dance forms daily throughout the two week program. Classes are taught by Berkshire Pulse Performing Arts Program and guest faculty. This program offers an inspiring opportunity for new students to be introduced to dance and for experienced beginners to further develop their skills.

This highly physical, athletic class will focus on using gravity and momentum to find ways of moving in and out of the floor, upside down and in the air. This is a challenging class with a spirit of exploration and risk taking, both physically and performatively. We will develop acrobatic skills, explore partnering techniques, and expand physical strength and capacity. Come ready to sweat, learn new tricks and have some serious fun.

DANCE INTENSIVE PROGRAM — Application: Dance Intensive

Level II and III (Advanced beginner II-Intermediate/Advanced)
Ages 12+

July 16 – August 3, 2018
Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Orientation is Sunday July 15, 3:30-5:00 PM

$1,000 for the three week program*
Or $400 for the first week only (first week only students will not perform)

Dancers, are you ready for more? Join Berkshire Pulse for an inspiring and challenging three week dance experience. This program is for students who are currently studying dance and have participated in at least three years of Ballet training at an Advanced Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced level. Week 1 and 2 will focus on classwork. Classes will include Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Contemporary technique, Choreography, African, Hip Hop and Flamenco. Week 3 will focus on repertory and choreography and will culminate with performance.  A visit to Jacob’s Pillow will take place at some point during the Intensive.

Fathers, Sons, & Other Guys (Movement Workshop) Register

This is a fun and rich bonding experience for men, teens, and boys to explore their values and negotiate consciousness around masculinity. In this physically engaging workshop, fathers and sons, extended family, and individuals will explore verbal conversations and physical conversations around the topic of Masculinity. What is it? What is it not? How did you learn about it or come to know it? What do you/will you pass on about masculinity? Using movement games and structures to enhance and further the discussions, participants will unearth assumptions, truths, and myths about their personal and societal views of masculinity. This workshop gives you a unique opportunity to spend time together with other men and boys.

For Men, teens, and boys of all backgrounds (no prior movement or dance skills required). Fathers (and/or male guardians) may come with one or more sons, as well as individual guys interested in exploring this topic.

This workshop kicks off a week-long program “Movement Enhancement for Boys and Men”, Monday,  Aug. 12 – Friday, Aug. 17.  This Sunday session sold separately (see above), or free as part of the week-long program.

Program begins on Sunday August 12, 3:30 – 5 PM with the “Fathers, Sons, & Other Guys” workshop, and continues Monday-Friday, August 13-17 with daily classes, 10:30 AM – Noon.

$120 for week long program, includes the Sunday workshop*

In this week-long program, classes will consist of movement techniques and explorations for dancing and a healthy well being, all geared for the male mover. The Brain Dance (Brain Compatible Dance Education) will be the anchor and foundation for each class. This program offers participants an opportunity to explore and develop new and exciting ways of moving in an inspiring, rigorous and supportive learning atmosphere. Program culminates with a sharing of movement material studied and created, Friday August 17 at noon.

Vincent will be leading a one-day workshop on Sunday, Aug. 12 “Fathers, Sons, & Other Guys” which kicks off this week-long program “Movement Enhancement for Boys and Men”, Monday,  Aug. 13 – Friday, Aug. 17.  The Sunday session is sold separately, or free as part of this week-long program.

Intro to Dance

Ages 5-7
Watch this space for updates on the start date and times!

A playful approach to traditional technique, improvisation, shape and rhythm, music and story, balance and flow, this class is an ideal introduction to dance. The pleasure of movement is inspired while preparing students for continuation in the dance form of their choice. Requirements: Consistent attendance, appropriate classroom etiquette, and lots of enthusiasm!
