Adult/Teen African Dance – Beginning/Open Level, with LIVE drumming! – For adults, teens 16+ welcome
Saturday, February 14, 4-6 pm
With Tara Murphy and Aimee Gelinas accompanying on drums
For millennia, drumming and dance in Africa have brought people together to create peace and happiness. Here in America, dance and drumming can be used in the same way — to relieve stress and connect with yourself and community. Tara Murphy teaches basic African movement styles, as well as traditional rhythms and dances from Mali, Guinea and Senegal, West Africa. This dance will get your blood pumping and your heart soaring….feel the rhythms and shake what you got! The class emphasizes community, self-expression and the joy of movement. On this Valentine’s Day class, we will emphasize the energy of the heart within African dance, giving love to ourselves and others.

Cost: $30 per student to participate (Tuition Assistance awards can be applied to this as well)
