June 24-28, 9AM-3PM, Monday-Friday
This program is dedicated to hearing, seeing, feeling, creating and learning rhythms. On our first day, students will record rhythms found in and around Pulse and choose one to become their signature rhythm. Then we will make dances, music, and art based off of these signature rhythms. Courses include Tap (for beginner and more experienced tap dancers), Drumming, Hip-Hop and African Dance. There will be a sharing on the last day of what was created and learned for friends and family.
IMPROV ACTING WITH HAT FACTORY
June 24-28, 9AM-3PM, Monday-Friday
What’s better than making up stuff and tromping about in your imagination with friends? Doing a week of that and having a chance to perform it! Come join The Hat Factory, the resident acting company of Pulse, for a week of short and long form improv, spontaneous theatre-making, improv games, and SNL type skits. Using the methods of Viewpoints and Theatre Sports students will learn how to tap into their imaginations; trust and follow their impulses; develop quick trigger responding; expand their character building while learning how to make bold, fun, daring and sophisticated theatre! Students will have the opportunity to improvise/perform with the Hat Factory at Pulse on Saturday, June 29th 7 PM.
DANCE DISCOVERY, Program 1
July 1-5, 9AM-3PM, Monday-Friday (no class July 4th)
This week is for movers who want to try out multiple forms of dance in an accepting, fun, friendly environment. Participants will study Modern, Ballet, dance making and get a taste of African and contemporary dance forms. This week provides an opportunity for new students to be introduced to dance and for experienced beginners to expand and further develop their skills.
Students ages 10+ are encouraged to continue in Dance Beyond Borders, Program 2

DANCE BEYOND BORDERS, Program 2
July 8-12, 9AM-3PM, Monday-Friday
Dance Beyond Borders is a week of traveling through different cultures, worlds, and styles of dance. This journey is designed for young dancers who are interested in experiencing new ways of moving while developing their technical and artistic skills. Emphasizing Modern dance technique, the program will also include dances from Brazil, Africa, Spain and right here in New England. In addition, a daily class in the craft of dance making will allow students the opportunity to create their own choreography, drawing upon dance forms of their own creation and those studied throughout the week.
A WEEK FOR BOYS!
July 15-19, 9AM-3PM, Monday-Friday
This program is designed for the physically active boy who wants to learn, move, play and express in a non-competitive environment. Using acrobatics, Parkour, Martial Arts and movement creation, this group of boys will build skills that develop confidence, coordination, strength and flexibility while expanding their movement vocabulary with each other and the world.
MUSICAL THEATRE INTENSIVE
July 15-19, 9AM-3:30PM Monday-Friday
Tired of always rehearsing yet not getting a chance to improve your singing, dancing, and acting? Then this program is for you! The Musical Theatre Intensive offers a rigorous week of training that will sharpen your acting, dancing and singing skills to help you become a solid triple threat. Classes include acting, voice, audition techniques, jazz and tap. Faculty includes seasoned professionals. Nick Miscusi is a hoofer and chorus gypsy with numerous Broadway and off-Broadway credits will teach dance. Director, regional actor and head of acting at MCLA Laura Standley, will be the acting coach. Donna Bullock, Broadway star with dozens of film, TV and commercial credits will teach voice. And based on her availability, 2018 Tony nominated Lauren Ambrose for her role as Eliza in My Fair Lady, will lead a Masterclass on Thursday, July 18th. Students will walk away not only having been immersed in the business with experts in the field, but with a monologue, an audition song, a host of standard Musical Theatre steps and how to feel more confident when onstage and auditioning.
For intermediate/advanced level dancers ages 13+
July 22-Aug 10, 9AM-3:30PM Monday-Friday
Dancers, are you ready for more? Join us for an inspiring, robust and challenging three-week dance experience. Week 1 and 2 will focus on technique and wellness. Classes will include Modern, Contemporary, Ballet, Jazz, the Alexander Technique, dance making, African, Hip Hop, Partnering and Flamenco. Week 3 will add in repertory, creating dances and devising a Site-Specific Work. This program is for Intermediate or Advanced level of Ballet and/or Modern dancers. A tour of Jacob’s Pillow will take place Friday, August 2 that will include a chance to explore the archives, watch classes and see performances on Inside/Out and of A.I.M by Kyle Abraham on the Ted Shawn Stage. This intensive will end with a public performance on Saturday, August 10th.
Cost $1000 or $400 per week for the first 2 weeks ONLY.
