Pay It Forward
Thirty years ago, Berkshire Pulse opened with a commitment to building connections and uplifting our community through access and active participation in dance and the creative arts. This philosophy was the inspiration for our Tuition Assistance program, a mission-centered initiative that sustains Pulse programs and the broader artistic community by ensuring teaching artists are fairly compensated and removing financial barriers for students.
This fall, as you begin registering for your classes here at Pulse, we invite you to pay it forward. Make a gift to the Tuition Assistance (TA) program with your class registration and make space for a neighbor or friend to join you in experiencing the joy of movement. In the past 15 years, over 1,000 students have benefitted from the TA program, and currently 1 in 5 students are TA members. Your generosity ensures that we can continue to connect with so many people.
Tuition fees for in-studio classes go directly towards paying our teaching artists, with very little being diverted toward the facility costs or other administrative expenses. Every donation made to our TA program ensures that all of our students can continue their dance journey with Pulse, whether they are members of our TA program or not.
Consider doubling your own one-time class fee, or starting with a small monthly donation that will add up over time. If you find value in the work that we do, we hope you will take part in creating a valuable experience for someone else.
- A donation of $20 can fund one Community Class for an adult just beginning their dance journey
- A donation of $150 can fund one family’s participation in Dance with Me classes for a young child 18 months – 3 years and their caregiver
- A donation of $250 can fund 13 weeks of Creative Dance classes for one 4-6 year old
- A donation of $500 can fund an entire semester of classes for a 9-12 year-old student in our Youth Performing Arts Program taking 2 classes each week
- A donation of $1,000 can fund a two-week, full-day Summer Intensive for one local teen
- A donation of $2,500 can fund an entire year of classes for an advanced student in our YPAP program taking up to 4 classes each week
In difficult times, strong connections matter more than ever. Community is the antidote to isolation and anxiety, and Berkshire Pulse is here to facilitate those connections. Everything we receive, we give back. Which means that when you give to or work with Pulse, you’re giving to and working with your community. Whatever the amount, your gift sustains a place that counters darkness with joy—joy in art, in movement, and in one another.
