If you have been wanting to learn ballet, but were intimidated to try an open adult ballet class, then join us this Summer at Berkshire Pulse for a weekly class series designed to teach ballet skills for adults of all ages and with no experience necessary. Learning ballet helps with increasing coordination, balance, full body strength, posture awareness, and even memory, and all these skills additionally help with fall prevention. Combining balletic movements with beautiful classical music will uplift your spirits as well.
Dress code: wear comfortable clothes (yoga or dance wear) and ballet slippers or jazz shoes are recommended.

Monday-Friday, July 27 – July 31 from 5:30-7:30pm
This 5-day Cunningham Workshop introduces Merce Cunningham’s work through daily technique class and repertory from TV Rerun (1972). We will explore the infinite possibilities of movement, embodying the world philosophies of American dancer and choreographer Merce Cunningham (1919-2009). This class is an exploratory process in which the dancer can learn to command their movements with clarity, efficiency, rhythm, and relish in the discovery that happens along the way. No prior experience with Cunningham is required. All levels of dancers are welcome. Students will have the option to perform in an informal showing on Friday, July 31st.
Simonson Jazz Dance Intensive
With Teresa Perez Ceccon
Level, Adults ages 18+
Monday-Thursday, August 3-6 from 5:30-7:15pm
This class invites you to move with depth, clarity, and rhythm while building confidence and strength. Designed for dancers who enjoy a slightly slower pace without sacrificing challenge, the class allows space to refine technique, develop musicality, and fully embody the movement.
Each session begins with a thorough, progressive warm-up focused on alignment, coordination, and fluidity, preparing the body thoughtfully for what follows. From there, we move into dynamic jazz combinations and choreography that explore phrasing, groove, and expressive detail. You’ll have time to absorb the material, layer in nuance, and feel the dance rather than rush through it.
Expect a supportive and welcoming atmosphere where curiosity is encouraged, and growth happens naturally. Whether you’re returning to jazz or deepening an established practice, this summer program offers an energizing and joyful way to reconnect with your body and the music.
