SWING – Beg/Int, for ages 12-adult
With Brianne Szymanski
This class teaches the partnered basics of Swing with a particular emphasis on rhythm, artistry, and jazz dance history. We’ll explore movement patterns that establish the foundations of Lindy Hop as a social, vernacular jazz dance. The goal is to boost your confidence to hit the dance floor and have fun, while celebrating the music, movement, and spirit of the Harlem Renaissance and Swing Era! No partner required!
Thursdays 6:45-8:30pm, broken into times for Beginner and Intermediate students:
- 6:45-7:30pm – Beginner work
- 7:30-7:45pm – Social Dance w/ Beginner and Intermediate students (students who have taken one full session previously are invited to arrive at 7:30pm)
- 7:45-8:30pm – Intermediate work
September 19 – December 12
(No class September 12, October 31, or November 28)
Beginners/Intermediate – Classes marked Beginners/Intermediate are for anyone with some previous movement experience and/or anyone with previous movement experience in the specific dance style of the class.
