Beginner/Intermediate W. African Drumming

Ages 8+

This class is open to students of all levels. Whether you have had no prior experience with drumming or you’ve already taken some classes, we will work on developing hand drumming technique, listening skills, and how to play multi-part West African rhythms. Students will master the basic elements of the pulse, call and response, the various breaks that start and stop the rhythms and some improvisation. Our primary instruments are djembe and dun dun, but other types of hand drums and percussion will be used and all instruments are provided.

Thursdays, 4–4:45 p.m.
