BEGINNERS FLAMENCO for ages 7+
With Joanne Bockemuehl-Jackson
This class introduces dancers to all the basic aspects of Flamenco. Dancers will get a taste of the challenge of flamenco and explore the spirit of the dance form while bonding with each other. Weekly classes will focus on footwork (as a percussion instrument), arm movement and upper body coordination. With consistent attendance, students will begin to develop the muscular strength, movement skills, artistic nuance and musicality necessary for flamenco dance.
Student must purchase flamenco suitable shoes before starting a class. Shoes need a heel. Tap shoes are not suitable for flamenco dance. The instructor recommends Amazon character shoes, Ebay, or Sansha (for kids) Flamencista. Please reach out if you have any questions. We have a variety of used flamenco shoes available at the Front Desk.
Thursdays 5-6 PM
January 29 – June 4
(No class February 19 and April 23)
$350 for the full session ($10 performance fee included)
